Kindergarten: We are learning about steady beat and how it is similar to our heart beat. We are learning how to move slow, medium and fast to the music that we hear. We also started singing by ourselves by echoing hello to Mrs. M!
First Grade: We are reviewing steady beat and practicing playing the beat on drums. We are beginning to read rhythm patterns and identifying those patterns by ourselves! Second Grade: We are reviewing reading rhythm patterns by putting various rhythm patterns in order using fall leaves. Third Grade: We are working on steady beat and playing beat patterns to the song La Raspa (The Mexican Hat Dance). We are playing two different patterns and working on listening to the music to know when we switch patterns. Fourth Grade: We have been playing our recorders for a couple of weeks now and learned our first song, Hot Cross Buns! This week we started belt testing and earning our white belts for Recorder Karate. We also started learning our Patriotic songs for our November 12th PTA show. Please be on the lookout for more information regarding this show! Fifth Grade: We have been reviewing our recorder notes. We also did a lesson on listening to music and trying to identify which animal the composer Camille Saint-Saëns was describing when he wrote the music collection Carnival of the Animals.
